We had a lively discussion and touched upon may aspects about living in the Okanagan. I was a little bit surprised about the consensus in the room. I had expected a more controversial discussion.

Are there any ideas that came out of this discussion that
surprised you?
For me the discussion about absentee owners (or shadow population) and the idea of putting some limits on buying vacation property was interesting. The second point was the danger of a three year political cycle compared to the longer term strategy that is needed for the Valley.

Did this discussion in any way change your outlook or perception
of the Okanagan's future?
No, I am still optimistic that we can control our destiny and with tools such as Okanagan Quest, we can visualize the outcome of today's choices. It is important that we work together in the Valley and don't fight parochial wars.
